Weltschmerz strives to create atmospheres of beauty, with themes varying from folklore and mythology to melancholy and sadness. Forgotten was founded in 2003 to dedicate, in lyrical and musical form, an opus to death and the obsession with the evening star. It's name derives from the bleakest outlook on life. Death is not the end, being forgotten is. Solitude brought little opportunity to record the music however, and so all projects were put on hold.
Weltschmerz continued to write music though, and in January 2009 the Somberheid album has been recorded, together with session musicians Snærr and Morbid.
So far all albums Weltschmerz has created, and will create, will uphold a different general theme. 'Avondster', as mentioned before, is a dedication to death and the stars in the night sky. The 'Somberheid' demo will solely be thriving on sombre tones and bleak words. Because there has been more material written for which Weltschmerz has too little time to record at the moment, more songs upholding the atmospheres of the 'Somberheid' demo, will appear on a later album following the same trend. The second album, called 'De doden zoon', is currently schedualed to be released in the end of 2009. The recording will take place this summer, and if all goes well it will be released by a label yet to be decided upon.
Other than that Weltschmerz is also working on an album entirely dedicated to nature and ancient folklore, which will have lyrics written in the dialect of his home region.
